Horn, porcupine, bush seeded products and pipes
HORN PRODUCTS
San use the horns of cattle and antelope to make containers and jewellery. The best known product is the horn powder puff.

PORCUPINE QUILL PRODUCTS
Its quills are a very effective defence when the porcupine seeks protection from attacks by other animals. Loose quills can be cut into pieces and strung with sinew thread. These pieces are used for making products such as traditional aprons, bags and belts. Such products are very light in weight.
BUSH SEED PRODUCTS
All kinds of seeds are used to make jewellery, most often necklaces and belts. By piercing the seeds they can be strung onto sinew thread. The use of different shapes and colours make a vibrant pattern.

PIPES
San love tobacco and use different types of pipes for smoking. Bone pipes are made from the bones of steenbok or duiker, with engravings and coloured black with charcoal rubbed in with a fat. Metal pipes are also made by rolling a piece of metal into a cone shape.
